Study Units

To complete the Diploma, students must complete 10 units: 2 core units and 8 electives.

 

Electives must include:

  • At least 3 units from Group A (Scripture and Theology)

  • At least 3 units from Group B (Ministry and Formation)

  • At least 6 units from the listed electives

  • Up to 2 electives may be selected from other approved training courses, provided they are relevant to the qualification.

  • Biblical Theology of Ministry & Mission

    Explore a biblical theology of the Church, ministry and mission, examining Christ's leadership of the Church, the work of the Holy Spirit, ministry gifts, discipleship and the calling of every believer. Develop a deeper biblical framework for understanding and leading ministry in the local church.

  • Apologetics, Biblical Truths & Extremes

    Strengthen your understanding of Christian doctrine and develop confidence explaining and defending what Christians believe. Explore the authority of Scripture, apologetics, faith and reason, evidence for Christian belief, and responses to challenging questions and competing ideas.

  • Biblical Theme Research

    Develop advanced biblical research skills as you investigate a significant biblical theme across Scripture, evaluate relevant sources and communicate your findings clearly and effectively.

  • Hermeneutics & Public Speaking

    Strengthen your ability to interpret Scripture accurately and communicate biblical truth effectively. Develop practical skills for studying biblical texts, understanding their historical and literary context, applying sound hermeneutical principles and presenting biblical insights with clarity and confidence.

  • Church History

    Journey through the major movements, people and events that have shaped Christianity—from the early Church and historic councils through the Reformation, revival, global mission and Pentecostal renewal—and consider the lessons they offer for ministry today.

  • Special Church Services

    Develop the biblical, pastoral and practical understanding needed to lead significant moments in church life, including worship, communion, baptism, dedications, weddings, funerals and other special services with wisdom and pastoral sensitivity.

  • Christian Ethics

    Explore how biblical truth shapes Christian responses to contemporary ethical issues. Develop a thoughtful, Scripture-based approach to examining complex questions, making ethical decisions and applying Christian principles to everyday life, culture and ministry.

  • Worldviews, Religions & Cults

    Explore major religions, secular worldviews, cults and high-control religious movements through a biblical Christian framework. Develop discernment to understand differing beliefs, identify key points of difference and engage people with clarity, respect and confidence in the Gospel.

  • The Person & Work of the Holy Spirit

    Deepen your Pentecostal understanding of the person and work of the Holy Spirit, exploring His presence, power and activity in the life of the believer and the ministry and mission of the Church.

  • Christian Ethics for Ministry Practice

    Apply Christian ethics to the realities of ministry leadership and practice. Explore character, integrity, authority, governance, pastoral boundaries and ethical decision-making while developing ministry that is responsible, accountable and centred on biblical values.

  • Songs to Live By

    Explore the biblical foundations and practical expression of Christian worship, developing the understanding and skills needed to prepare and lead worship that is biblically grounded, spiritually meaningful and appropriate to the ministry context.

  • Managing Resources & Risk

    Develop practical capability in the operational responsibilities of ministry, including governance, finances, people, legal structures, compliance, property and risk management. Learn to steward ministry resources responsibly while building healthy systems that support sustainable ministry.

  • Church Planting & Growth

    Explore the biblical and practical foundations of church planting, from the Great Commission and CRC church-planting vision through to calling, leadership development, multiplication and establishing a healthy new church. Develop the foundations needed to prayerfully plan and prepare for church planting and growth.

  • Counselling God's Way

    Develop a biblical approach to counselling and discipleship that helps people grow in Christ, navigate personal challenges and experience lasting spiritual formation. Explore identity, relationships, worry, fear, anger and other life issues while developing skills to care for and disciple others with wisdom and discernment.

  • Pastoral Client Care

    Develop practical skills for responding holistically to people with a range of pastoral and support needs. Learn to build trust, identify concerns and risks, recognise the limits of your role and connect people with appropriate services and additional support.

  • Case Management Supervision
